چکیده

ABSTRACT Purpose: To identify the lymphatic vessels in orbital specimens from human cadavers using light microscopy and immunohistochemical analysis. Methods: A postmortem study included 10 cadavers. The were obtained no later than 12 hours after death. dissected into lacrimal gland, optic nerve, fat tissue, oculomotor muscles. histologic criteria to qualify as a vessel thin-walled channels of endothelium without well-developed basal membrane with an erythrocyte-free, irregular lumen. irregularly shaped, lumen immunopositivity for podoplanin D2-40. Results: extraocular muscle sections positively stained Conclusions: This demonstrated orbit, more precisely, dura mater adipose extrinsic muscles via immunohistochemistry.

The evaluation of the retrobulbar orbital fat tissue and optic nerve with strain ratio elastography.

AIM The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of strain ratio elastography in the assessment of retrobulbar orbital fat tissue. MATERIALS AND METHODS The retrobulbar fat tissue of 14 eyes in 14 participants was scanned by sonoelastography. All the participants had permanent vision loss secondary to glaucoma in at least one eye. The elasticity scores were determined and ...

Orbital Lymphoma Mimicking Lacrimal Gland Pleomorphic Adenoma

PURPOSE To describe the case of a patient affected by orbital lymphoma mimicking pleomorphic adenoma of the lacrimal gland. METHODS This was a retrospective case report. RESULTS We present the case of a patient with 15-year history of slowly progressive left proptosis and inferomedial bulbar dislocation who had the presumptive diagnosis of lacrimal gland pleomorphic adenoma based on clinica...

Ectopic intraocular lacrimal gland tissue.

Ectopic lacrimal gland tissue is rarely found within the eye. The first report was that of Puech (i 887) who described an adenoma of the choroid in an adult female. The lesion had the appearance of lacrimal gland tissue which was adherent to the sclera and the retina. After an interval of 65 years Christensen and Anderson (I 952) described ectopic lacrimal gland tissue within the sclera, ciliar...

Parallel Gene Expression Changes in Sarcoidosis Involving the Lacrimal Gland, Orbital Tissue, or Blood.

IMPORTANCE Sarcoidosis is a major cause of ocular or periocular inflammation. The pathogenesis of sarcoidosis is incompletely understood and diagnosis often requires a biopsy. OBJECTIVE To determine how gene expression in either orbital adipose tissue or the lacrimal gland affected by sarcoidosis compares with gene expression in other causes of orbital disease and how gene expression in tissu...
